While trying to assemble my column, I noticed it is rather "loose" top near the attaching point for the steering wheel. Are 67 fixed wheel column supposed to have a upper and lower bearing? I can only find a upper and lower for tilt wheels. The car was like this when we bought, I think. It's been two yaers since I drove. I can't remember. Thanks mike

Do you mean the steering shaft itself? It will have play until you install the steering wheel. The base contains the race for the upper bearing.

On the 65-66 and probably 67, there is a collar that fits in at the top. If it wears out, there's slop. Not sure if they sell them new. Remember seeing an article in MMonthly some years back that tackled that on as 66. Just saw that very thing last week at local Mustang shop. They installed a used one.
