The Saleen has a 4.6 SOHC (single over head cam) engine and the Boss is a traditional over head canted valve configuration.

One difference that I've been told about is that 351C heads have the water-crossover passage on the block side of the head and Boss 302 heads have the water-crossover passage on the intake side.

In addition to the water passage difference Thud mentioned, the 351C 4V does not have the adjustable valve train, such as 7/16" studs and guide plates. The Boss 351 does, however.

In the upper corner outside the valve cover will be a "4" if they are 351C 4V heads and a "2" if they are 351C 2V heads. BOSS 302 heads (and 400) heads are blank. 351M heads will have an "M" there.

Will the exhause manifolds for a 351C work
on a Boss?
My boss has headers and I am thinking of
getting rid of them and replacing them
with the stock manifolds.

Just one question....

Why?

Why you ask - it's a tad loud for
my liking. I prefer a low rumble.

Another reason - the headers stick down
pretty low. When I restore the car I want
to lower the front end. I am worried the
headers will be too close to the ground.
I would hate to find out the hard way
that they are.

So - back to my original question....
Will 351C exhaust manifolds fit?

in answer to your question about exhaust manifold interchange - in a word NO. The problem is the 351C has a much larger deck height than the shorter 302. consequently, the 351C exhaust manifolds hit the starter/bellhousing on the passenger side. if you look at the C9ZE exhaust manifolds, you will see a curve built into clear the starter hump. that is why the Boss manifolds bring such a high premium......
