I'm curious, are you talking about the upper and lower ball joint grease fittings or the upper control arm grease fittings?

yes;;;;whatever they 'control'these fittings may very well NOT be in your garage manuals..they were shown to me by a FORD EXEC IC MAINT. OFFICER...I never knew these were back of the wheel..as you will see., and when you do, you can tell what they control.(Lube)whether they be joint/or control arms..I am not versed to say., I just lube them as I know to..OK??thanks for your reply..d

I'm a little confused. Are you talking about the control arm ball joints or the outer tie rod ends(since you said behind the wheels). If you only greased whatever you could see under the hood you would be missing all of the grease nipples.

There are:Dzerk fittings on the upper control arms and ball joints (4 points on the spindle and control arms). The remaining number vary according to whether one has user lubricate joints/ends or permanently lubricated joints/ends. Of the former, some upper control ball arm ball joints lubricate from above and some from below. Depends on the brand of ball joint.

I am confused also but think you are reffering to the upper control arm grease fittings. Whatever it is I have to congratulate you on the best topic title I have ever seen on this site. My wife thinks I am looking at porn on the net now! I tried that line in a bar once and got slapped. Stop me, the jokes are too easy!

Let'see.... 2 upper control arm bushing grease fittings +1 upper balljoint grease fitting +1 lower balljoint grease fitting +1 outer tie-rod grease fitting +1 inner tie-rod grease fitting _ =6 grease fittings behind each wheelThe upper control arm bushings did not come from the factory with grease fittings. These had to be installed the first time the bushings were installed. Many shops cut (with a torch, usually) holes in the shock towers for easy acces to these fittings. There are 90 degree fittings that will fit without the need for such butchery. Tracy [This message has been edited by DidgeyTrucker (edited 08-04-2002).]
