Here in the Flips - that's the Philippines to the rest of you - ANYTHING is possible, but is it the right thing to do? Is it OK to take a set of tubeless tires, add tubes and put them on old rims with no valves? Also, can your average tire shop be trusted to add valves to old valveless rims? I just wanna be safe ... I'm doing some tire / rim juggling. Thanks all! Simon

I don't know exactly what you're working with but I can't really tell the difference between "tube" and "tubeless" rims. Both have the appropriate holes and need only the apropriate size valve stem. If the rims are truly "tubeless" they may not be airtight though. As far as I know, putting tubes in tubeless tires can be done, though it is not recommended.

By experience, it is just fine to add inner tubes to tires just make sure the tube is the correct size for the tire and the valve stem also. If all you need is valve stems it would be much easier than adding tubes. I work in an "average" tire shop and we do this all the time. VERY simple. You should only add inner tubes if the rims are no good (i.e cracked, leak air etc.)or the tire cannot be repaired, which in most cases you should replace the tire.

If you tube tubless tires just remember not to run them continuously at high speed or they may fail due to the extra heat build up caused by the tube inside.

Good call Alex! And this gives me the excuse I've been waiting years for Why do you guys call brakes that are NOT power-assisted "manual" brakes? "Manual" = by hand. "Pedal" = by foot.
