Sounds like a great idea, though Yes, you can repair your pedal shaft by welding it up and machining it back down. Take your time with the grinder, don't go too far or you'll need to start over. I repaired my z-bar this way... beaded it up, ground it close, filed it finished. Turned out awesome IP: Logged
