It all depends on your states DMV laws. Many states will trace the title history for a fee. You need to contact your SOS )Secratary of State) office for more specific details. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl

I would check to see what kind of info they will supply before giving them the money. I spent $20-$30 (I blocked it out and cant remember) to the NJ DMV and received a list with only my name on it. If you can get a Kevin Marti report, then you might be able to start at the dealer and work toward you. That?s what I?m trying to do now.[This message has been edited by 68 S-code GT (edited 06-26-2002).]

To get the dealer name you have to buy the dluxe report which does NOT give the first buyer's name. 67-73 only. If the dealer IS still in business he is not obligated to give you any names. The Marti report lists the car AS IT WAS MADE with equip, etc. That much is good enough for most people. It's a major, often futile, job to research all the owner's.

My dealer is still in business but he moved from NJ to Pa and I haven?t heard a thing from them yet. I have one of those fastbacks that had a vinyl to on it and was just trying to find out if they had it done or a latter owner!

For a dealer to have information back to the 60's-70's is doubtful. Best to start with the last person to own the car and go in reverse order hoping memory of the past owners are good. sam

On a 69 and later, you can just call ford and get them to mail you a "history 999" report for free that will tell you everything the car was originally equipped with. All they need is a VIN. I'd post the ph#, but I don't have it here. I believe it's at work. If anyone's interested, let me know and I'll see if I can scrounge it up.
