A friend haas a 65 convertible that he is replacing both quarters. After removing the quarters he noticed that there was a "gutter" that ran from quarter to quarter right under the space between the trunk & rear window. He believes this is a factory part, but can't find it anywhere. Is this a factory part? And if so, does anyone know where he can find it? He is capiable of making one if needed. Thanks in advance.

Well it was a factory part but it is not available new or in repo. If it is not totally gone, and the 1/4's are off, then it could be rewelded. Used ones are avail. but a bit difficult. Given that it is accessible, and he is capable, a fix can be done easier than searching, finding, replacing, etc.Have done both procedures. If the 1/4's were staying on, would replace it. It is important to have a strong 'gutter, made of metal, not fiberglass, etc, as it is the anchor point for the cv top in the rear and it provides drainage.
