Fellas, I have applied one side of the fender emblems. I drilled a 1/8" hole, poped the metal insert in the hole then tried to push the running horse and the mustang letters. It kinda worked.

However, not all of the emblems is tight against the fender ( on the trunk deck it wasn't a problem as the metal is thicker).

Any suggestions?

As always, we are getting closer so that you all can see your fine work

Different size barrel nuts are made that might fit better and many of the emblems(mostly the lettering) come in stick on instead of drilling holes and that fits flush to the body.

I don't know about the original '68 fender emblems, but I have Scott Drake repros, and there's no way they can fit flush anyway. The fenders are curved and the emblems aren't.

Put a cutting wheel on your dremel tool...whack off the studs...get 3M double sided emblem tape (3M only) and I'll bet they'll be good for 300 MPH....
And if they don't mold the body contours perfectly...put your left hand on one side, right hand on the other and gently bend...
This is called the Philadelphia Fix..
Oh , one of those razor "Crafting" scalples (whatever they are called) do a nice trim job on the tape.
