Here is a quick description of what I have, all gauges and lights worked before all the work with the engine and interior. After the gauges were installed they lit up fine but none of them move off the peg except the alternator and it reads toward the discharge side when I have my key on with my battery hooked up to my charger. I have tried to ground each gauge and see if the needle moves but no luck. I have changed the instrument voltage regulator, and the ground check is good as well as the fuses, I also checked the circuit board. I am looking at the ignition switch or some other wiring maybe even the Alternator wiring. For some reason it seems like the gauges are not getting power or reversed polarity. ------------------ 69 351W Sportsroof Deluxe [This message has been edited by Clark (edited 06-10-2002).]

the same kind of thing happened to me on my 70 and i replaced my instrument voltage regulator (that little thing that has 2 wires going into it on the back of the instrument cluster) and that fixed it.------------------ 1970 mach1 351c 1965 comet 289

Clark, The alt gauge will not show charging when using a battery charger, only when the alt is charging, since it is showing a slight discharge when the key is turned on it will most probably work correctly when you crank the engine.
Just read you post over and see you have checked the ground on the sending units, but for the gauges to go full scale there is current flow to ground, you may have to start unplugging wiring to the gauges and try and isolate where the wiring is going to ground at. ------------------ Ronnie 69 mach1 351W-4V 70 Torino GT 351C-4v with a "shaker" Mustangs and More Member #23 [This message has been edited by RonnieT (edited 06-10-2002).]
