The best part was he gave me his MSD for my Maverick!!------------------ Jim B. 70 Maverick Grabber clone 302,c4 auto Weld RODLITES,Holley 600,performer intake, comp cam,MSD ignition,2.5 " pipes Candy apple blue metal flake!

Welcome 65conv Not having run a Mallory or a Crane ignition, I can't speak for or against them. On a basic motor with the usual add-ons (carb & manifold, headers & exhaust), you'll see equal or more power out of a MSD 6-series ignition than you will for any other mod in the price range, with big improvments in driveability, cold start-up and overall powerband

Hope we get more answers...am ready to put a Crane HI 6 and LX92 coil, after adapting my Malloy Unilite distributor cap with the big, (HEI ?) type with studs with new FMS 9mm wires... Was wondering if there would be any noticeable difference or if it just makes the entire ignition assembly run and burn more efficiently ??------------------ EDDIE D Resto Mod '70 Sport Roof Arrest Me Red '02 GT, Torch Red "If I knew I would have lived this long, I would have taken better care of myself !"

In my old motor, the MSD box and coil smoothed out the idle a bunch, increased my mileage and gave a better kick in the pants when I gassed it. Don't forget to upgrade your wires or you'll see a major lightning storm under your hood (don't ask me how I know). Definitely worth the money and good tech support too.

I just put a MSD 6AL, Billet Distributor, Blaster2 and 8.8mm Accell wires into my car this last weekend. I had trouble getting it working and called thier Tech Support today and they were great. They stayed on the phone with me the whole time while we trouble shooted it and got it working. Thier Tech support gets an A++++. As for performance it fired right up instantly but I didnt have time to time the engine yet so I do not know how much of a performance difference there is yet. I can let you know if you like in a day or two.

I would be very curious to hear your feed back on, idle, low end torque and throttle response improvements. I am holding my order until then !! What's the mechanical context anyway

I timed my car today MSD UPDATE: Night and Difference on the street! I jumped on it today and a big smile came accross my face. I notice a cleaner smoother acceleration and it felt like it was hitting harder too. In addition to that, the starter hardly turn the motor when she fires up. I love it. The only problem I have now is my stock Tac is not working. But I am sure I will figure it out soon. MSD gets two thumbs up from me. [This message has been edited by MASTIFF (edited 05-30-2002).]

Does anyone know if the Crane HI-6 or MSD is compatible with the Pertronix module? My stock distributor has a custom spark advance and has been rock solid. I would like to use it.

Mastiff, I take it that you were running a lot of advance and that it got worse with the improved sparks ? You will need an adapter for stock tach, MSD sells it. Bluestreek, All this box does is, take the impulse from your distributor, amplifies it and adds 2 more impulses right behind it (for a complete burn)and sends it to the primary of the ignition coil. So It should be compatible with your set up.

With this box and distributor I am actually using less initial advance. I do not think my stock distributor was working right and I had to have alot of initial advance for it to work good. I set the MSD distributor up with small bushing to get more total advance and lighter spings for a more aggressive advance curve. I am very happy with the results.
