Can someone tell me the diameter of the original Shelby tachs in the 65's ?? I know theres no way of mounting a 3 3/4 Autometer up there, it hits the windshield !!!

Do you mean in the blister that sits in the middle of the dash?

No Steve, I believe those were in the 66's. In 65 I think it was just the tach screwed to the top of the dash .

You don't want to use one of those? They look pretty cool.

I'm torn between these mounting options:
1. The Shelby Tach on top of the dash (sorta ruins a good dash pad).
2. 3 3/4" Autometer Sport Comp. on the steering column (offset to the right).
3. Same Autometer on the floor hump sorta up under the dash (kinda tough to see without really taking your eyes off the road).

I don't really know how those 66 Shelby Tach pods attach to the dash !!! Does anyone have any preferences as to where they put their tachs in their 65's ??

I certainly wouldn't ruin a good dash pad.

What about a Rally Pac?

The 'Shelby pod' mounts in the depression between the two humps on the dash, right in the center. It's got a 'teardrop' shape and sports a tach and an oil pressure (or maybe fuel pressure?) gage, the tach being the larger of the two. I've seen them advertised, I think Branda has them. You can probably see a pic of it on the website

Oh hey! Steve to the rescue again

I know, Mike's set-up looks GREAT Steve . But how do they attach....might end up ruining the dash pad too ???
Thumper....I've seen them in a few catalogs for only around $20.00 !!!
Decisions, decisions, decisions ?!?!?
And I still haven't gotten an answer to the original question !!!

OK, I have to get a shelby dash tach now. There is no other option. That interior is kick *** .

Do you think it would look better with GT or 66 instrument bezel, the one with the circular guages? I kinda like it with the long guage, which is what I have but thinking of converting.

I also wanted new seats for my front, but I might change my mind and keep the stock. That standard interior looks great with the dash. Nice Pic.

How much would that set up run complete with guages? What guages are those, TACH and what else?

All times are ET (US)
