I was under the impression that 100% mineral oil was the only option for old V8.
Is that true ?
I am installing a High volume oil pump and take this opportunity to ask the question.
I was warned not to go semi since the engine will consum more, leak more, have less oil pressure......What's the reality ?

I purchased a truck a few years back with 100K miles on it and have used various brands of 10W-40 semi-synthetic oil in it ever since. It now has 250K miles and still doesn't use any oil or have any engine problems! I try to change oil and filter every 3000 miles, but mostly around 5K. I use semi-synth in everything now.

I think there's a difference here between people who can tell the difference and people who can't. I have a mixture of synthetic and mineral in my 302 - whatever comes to hand. In the past, sometimes it's been all synthetic and sometimes it;s been all mineral. And I honestly can't tell the difference. But that's just me.
