Does anybody else, besides me, have a '70 Mustang that has the California Evaporative Emissions system? I hear mention of a canister and expansion valve for these cars, but have never found them on my car. There are some broken evap lines coming from the tank. If anybody can help, let me know. Thanks all. ------------------ 1970 Deluxe SportsRoof (63B),(2)46 Ford trucks, 47 Ford truck, 57 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr, '72 Olds Vista Cruiser(for sale), '88 Bronco II(for sale)...running out of room, selling some of my projects

Yes, mine has it. There's a goofy looking chamber inside the trunk between the trunk drop-off and the quarter panel on the driver's side. There's also a charcoal canister up front by the battery, I believe. ------------------

Steve, is your system still intact, or is it disconnected? Mine has a broken line down near the valve that is mounted on rear driver's frame rail. Can I just block the whole system off with no prob, or will something bad happen? ------------------ 1970 Deluxe SportsRoof (63B),(2)46 Ford trucks, 47 Ford truck, 57 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr, '72 Olds Vista Cruiser(for sale), '88 Bronco II(for sale)...running out of room, selling some of my projects

All the whole system is, is an elaborate filtering devise, many have been disconected and dirt is being drawn into the tank through the open lines. If you plug them all off don't put a gas cap on the car or it will suck the tank flat (or try to) while running, from lack of incoming air. I use a gas filter on the fuel tank breather of "all" cars to keep incoming air dirt free and if I had a disconected evap I'd ID the lines, filter the one important line, then go about removing or plugging the superfulous ones. On the other hand if you want to do a point restoration and need to put it all back I hope you have a good heart, the prices for "smog" stuff will likely give you a jolt . ------------------ No matter what's happening, there's always somebody that takes it way too seriously.

I have a '70 fb parts car with the CA emmissions system intact (gas tank, fittings, lines etc). Make offer. I am using the car for sheet metal parts. It will eventually be scaped. Car was a 302 model.------------------ MarkC ~ 1970 Mach 1 T-5 1965 Shelby Trans Am coupe (clone)
