Hey Fly... here's your firing orders *- Ford 5.0L HO, 351W, 351M, 351C, 400 Counter-clockwise 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 *- Ford 289, 302 Counter-clockwise 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8If you've got the 'early' sequence, then yes. Someone put an early cam in it. It won't hurt anything, although the late firing order is suposedly easier on the crank. The balancer is independent of the cam; it's matched to the flywheel. To change the cam, all you need is a kit (cam, lifters and break-in lube), gaskets, and a harmonic balancer puller. I'd highly recomend a new timing set while you're that far in, though. No need to change anything else. Email Alex about the parts. He's got all kinds of good stuff... he's probably got several choices for a balancer if in fact you want to change it also. Up until very recently most of the cam maufacturers only offered 351W cams in the 289 firing order anyway. It does not hurt a thing. The only reason FoMoCo introduced the other firing order anyway was to reduce the number 7-8 cylinder crossfire problems. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link

Why would you want to change the balancer? Do you have a vibration problem? If it is worn and you feel that it warrants replacment, you can use almost any 28 oz SBF balancer. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link
