What is the minimum manifold vacuum htat power brakes will work well with? How low can you go with a vacuum canister?

I believe around 12" Hg because they do need to allow for safe braking with poorly running stock engines.

Well, can I get by with 10.5" of vacuum and a vacuum canister?

Sure, as long as you have a vacuum canister. They also have vacuum pumps. You may even be able to find one in a junkyard on a diesel powered vehicle.

After changing my cam...my power brakes were no where....
Installed Crane's Vacuum reserve cannister, and now I can stop......
Pretty sure it was about a $40 or $50 item.
Like Steve said though, there are some "Bone yard" pumps out there...
