I am trying to figure out which engine came origionally in my uncle's 70 Mach 1. The VIN is 0F05H106655. I know that it is an H code engine, which is a 351 2V. My question is, which one? Windsor or cleveland? A few sources that I have read say that the H code was used for both W's and C's. The car origionally had an FMX tranny and a 3.00:1 open rear (8"). It is a Mach 1. Is there anything I can look at, on the car, to tell exactly which engine it had? Or does anybody have good reasoning as to why it is most likely one and not the other? There's a 302/C4 in it now for some reason, but we hope to remedy the situation with the correct engine. Advice, ideas, help!

I can't tell you for sure if it had a Cleveland of Windsor originally. But I can tell you that an H code could mean the Windsor or Cleveland 2-V's. I would think that either a Cleveland or Windsor would be correct for a replacement. I haven't seen any date codes or anything to suggest when a Cleveland was installed or a Windsor. My '70 has a Windsor in it, build date 10-15-69, it left the factory with a Windsor. Like yours it also has an FMX, and 3.00 open rear, but it has a nine inch rear. Not a lot of help here, but hopefully a little .------------------ 1970 Deluxe SportsRoof (63B),(2)46 Ford trucks, 47 Ford truck, 57 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr, '72 Olds Vista Cruiser(for sale), '88 Bronco II(for sale)...running out of room, selling some of my projects
