Anybody with 1970 factory air, I need help. Out of the group of wires coming from the firewall through the grommet there is what looks like a white wire, with a white, large female connector on the end. I think this may be the wire that goes to the A/C comp, but I'm not sure. Can anybody verify if this is the wire? The factory diagrams aren't clear in i.d. it. If it isn't the A/C comp wire, then what is it for? Thanks in advance. ------------------ 1970 Deluxe SportsRoof (63B),(2)46 Ford trucks, 47 Ford truck, 57 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr, '72 Olds Vista Cruiser(for sale), '88 Bronco II(for sale)...running out of room, selling some of my projects [This message has been edited by 70SportsRoof (edited 03-12-2002).]

I'm in the same boat at the moment. The assembly manual (and a local Ford guy) says the compressor wire is the green one at the firewall (where the main harness comes through). ------------------ Laugh at your problems, everybody else does... The wire going to the oil pressure sending unit on my '70 428 w/ A/C is white (well, it's kind of "cream" with age). All of the other white wires I see underhood relate to the intermittant wipers.

Okay, the factory wiring diagrams show the oil pressure wire as the white/red stripe wire, I've got that one hooked up. The green wire is the one for the A/C wire. But what the heck does this white wire do? Everything in my car is hooked up and working, except for the A/C, and this little white wire is the only one not connected to anything. Looks like I'll have to try to find the test light and try turn on switches and see what happens. Anybody else have any input? Thanks again all.------------------ 1970 Deluxe SportsRoof (63B),(2)46 Ford trucks, 47 Ford truck, 57 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr, '72 Olds Vista Cruiser(for sale), '88 Bronco II(for sale)...running out of room, selling some of my projects

Could be for the idle selenoid that is used on A/C equipped cars.------------------ Ronnie 69 mach1 351W-4V 70 Torino GT 351C-4v with a "shaker" Mustangs and More Member #23

OKay, I tried the test light and found the wire is hot with the car running. So, it's not an A/C...but what the hell does it do? It comes out of the main grommet that is round, right by the intake manifold. The wire is right next to the connector that runs down to the PRND12 light on the tranny. Anybody know what the wire is for? I checked the factory original wiring diagrams, but they don't help i.d. it. P.s. Ronnie, just saw your post as mine showed up. Maybe it is the solenoid wire. In the diagrams they don't show any wires to that. Maybe it is. Can anybody say this maybe what it is? ------------------ 1970 Deluxe SportsRoof (63B),(2)46 Ford trucks, 47 Ford truck, 57 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr, '72 Olds Vista Cruiser(for sale), '88 Bronco II(for sale)...running out of room, selling some of my projects [This message has been edited by 70SportsRoof (edited 03-13-2002).]
