Have a question about numbers stamped on the heads of my 1968, 289. I have the number 17 or 11 stamped on the front and to the top of the head on the left, the number is stamped just in front of the valve cover toward the bottom where the valve cover bolts to the head. Would like to know what that number means, any help would be appreciated , thank you. [This message has been edited by beachbum (edited 01-21-2002).]

Found out the numbers on my heads are stock item numbers, I thought they might be performance heads.

If they are stamped, they aren't Ford numbers. Ford casted the numbers on the heads.------------------

Hipo heads would have had a 19, 20, 21 cast in the same location. Mike
