My build sheets are badly damaged and I think I can salvage the information from them but I would like to transfer the info onto new sheets. Any ideas??

Mark,
Try checking with Marti Auto Works. Use the link at the top of the page. I'm not sure if Kevin can or can't reproduce a build sheet. Hope this points you in the right direction.

Not build sheets but Lois Eminger in Dearborn has 70 invoices for Dearborn and Metuchen built cars. It's in the Pony Tales column in MMonthly each month.

Dave,

The word from Mr Marti is that he cannot reproduce build sheets and doesnt know anyone who does. To me, that means he has build sheet info but for some reason cannot let the info out to the public. Oh well.

My next question is has anyone successfully cleansed their build sheets if they were rust/dirt stained? I have heard laquer thinner will work. I scanned the Mustang Monthly issues from Oct 99 to present this morning and didnt find anything in Bob Perkins section. I will go back through them tonight. Maybe a little farther back in history. I have my entire 15 year collection organized well enough that it wont be too much trouble. You guys will be the first to know when I finish my research.

He said it would be a preferable, non-destructive method to filter out the dirt/tar/rust stains to see the obscured data. He has experience doing this type of thing (I havent gotten back to sifting magazines yet).

The other choice is to have a museum conservator restore the document. I have spoken with the one at the Portland Art Museum and she said the results would be somewhat expensive and take a while. And then the results may not be worth the time and effort.

what I said, Mav, was that when I finished my research you all would be the first to know. :-) I have to eat and sleep sometime. . .

I have located repop build sheets, RestoreMustangs.com
has them for $2.95 each (#MOO1093 for 1970). The manager says they just sell the blanks, they cant type the data for your car into the sheet. Stay tuned.

Marti might be able to . I think all you would need is a "dasey wheel " type writer?
