I thought I had archived this info away some where for use later but once again age had defeated me..

Tell me the way to Id an 8" vs a 9" and remember the part about the socket fitting..that all I remember

The socket fitting the lower two bolts means it's an 8". Other than that a 9" has an inch larger dia. ring gear than a 8". LOL

Looking underneath, the 9" rear has a raised portion to accomodate the ring gear. If you had one under YOUR 68 LOL! you would recognize it immediately. All of that Dover "draining" would have bought you new gears by now!! LMAO! All in fun! LOL!

I got gears..had them for a long time 355 tL's...from MustangPlus..LOL...
