I'm looking for a toploader for my 69 Mustang. Does the stock shifter mount on the extreme tail of the tail housing like the earlier 65- 68 Mustangs? Or does it mount midway on the tailhousing? I don't have the shifter or the trans & would like to know what to look for, Shoe

Yes it does. The shifter will fit through the same hole in your floor as a three speed.

It depends on which toploader you get. I learned the hard way, 1st one I got was wrong one. The one you want has the shorter tailshaft. Amazingly, the trans with the long tailshaft has the shifter mounted further forward and you will hit the dash when you hit 3rd. I have mine out of the car if you need measurements or pictures
