Ok gang here goes....Im talking about 2 guys in Ford history. Both of them were directly involved in bringing 2 of the baddest muscle cars in American history into being. Both of these guys were Ford imports coming from Pontiac and Chevrolet. In fact one of them was responsible for designing the 63 Vette and the Mako Shark I,II. The guy who said this....You can sell a young mans car to an old man, but youll never sell an old mans car to a young man was the guy who hired this man.... who knew that SR-2 ,was never going to cut it as a name for a Ford muscle car. What Mustang(s) am I referring to? Whos the guy who who made that statement and helped Ford build a muscle car ledgend? Whos the guy who named it? See you later. The NASCAR debut for the Boss 9 was the 1969 Atlanta 500. Cale Yarborough's Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II won that race in the debut for not only the boss 9 but also the "aero" Cyclone.Tracy

Don't know when I'll get bacvk so here goes with the last questions. The Boss 429 debuted on January 15th 1969 so Happy Birthday to all those Bosses. There were 857 Boss 429's in '69 and 499 in '70. The Boss 302's come in at 1,628 in '69 and 7,013 in '70. there were ZERO Boss 429's made IN 1970, all the '70 cars were produced by December '69. Basically they made them for one year, split between 2 model years.

TomP Tonight I will check that, I'm sure you're right but I did not see anything mentioned from the book I took that info from. Granted it is not a Ford sponsored book and thier figures and statements may be inaccurate. My info came from Mike Mueller's book "Mustang 1964 1/2 1973" Chapter 8 Tony C*------------------ 65 Convertible 289 4spd M&M Member#450 It ain't done yet, but it'll be done right!!

Hey Gang. The Boss 429 production figures from "Mustang by the Numbers" by Kevin Marti state:1969 850 1970 500 But I have also come across other sources with different numbers. One states that 499 Boss 429s were built in 1969 as 1970 models. Are you guys maybe talking at cross purposes? TomP's talking calendar years, maybe Tony and Dave are talking model years?

Actually, we three are talking about the same thing. Kar Krafters did the modifications to the engine compartment to fit the 429 engine. Ford would assemble the body, interior and chasis. Then send it to Kar Krafters to do the rest of the car. The Boss 429s over lapped the model year. All Boos 429s were built in 1969. Remember that auto makers model years normally start in August/September/October time frame. Not January of each year. So all 1970 Boss 429s were actually built in 1969.Dave & Terri ------------------ Poison Ivy (Dave's) '65 Fastback Modified 289 4V, C-4, dual exhaust, styled steel wheels, rally pac, A/C Blue Belle (Terri's) '66 Coupe, Silver Blue Metallic, 351W 2-V, 4 speed, A/C, future sleeper.

Dave thanks for clearing that up. It's funny though that our production figures are slightly different. Like I said, the book I got this from was not a ford sponsored book so who know's really where that info came from. Tony, No worries. There are numerous sources in publication that all have different production figures, cost, options, etc. Another one that will drive you nuts, is all the different part numbers. Just ask Steve.Dave & Terri ------------------ Poison Ivy (Dave's) '65 Fastback Modified 289 4V, C-4, dual exhaust, styled steel wheels, rally pac, A/C Blue Belle (Terri's) '66 Coupe, Silver Blue Metallic, 351W 2-V, 4 speed, A/C, future sleeper.

Bunkie, if alive, may still be trying to get the tar and feathers off after his unceremonious "dumping" by Ford. Not even an Elgin watch! LOL!I don't think that Nasser got a lifetime cafeteria pass either.
