Quick question before I start the process or replacing the exhaust. I have a '65 fastback with a 289 bored out to a 302. It also has a HP cam and high rise edelbrock intake with 4 bbl holey.. Here is what I am wondering. I have the standard tri y's and am planning on topping it off with 2.5" exhaust and 30 seires flowmasters. My question is are the standard tri-y's going to be good enough for this setup? And any opinions of size of pipes and mufflers are appreciated too. Thanks, BS

It sounds like you are using stock heads. If so then the standard TriYs are fine. If you aftermarket heads I'd say go with some aftermarket style headers. There are several available pretty cheap.

That's a pretty big overbore. In fact, I don't think that's possible with a stock block or an R302.
