I'm running a 23 tooth speedo gear in my C6 and I'm still about 5 mph off. I believe a 25 tooth speedo gear will do the trick.

I'd like to know where I could get a 25 tooth speedo gear.

Thanks!
Brian

Have you checked National Parts Depot?

No Steve, I hadn't thought of NPD. I'll try them. Any other vendors sell speedo gears?

Thanks!

I've bought them for my C4 at Ford dealers. I just looked in the NPD catalog and they don't have anything listed with more than 21 teeth. I need a 23 tooth gear for my C4/3.55 combination. Are the C6 and C4 driven gears the same part? Are they both the "type 3" gears? If so, where did you find the 23 tooth part you presently have?

Ragtop,
Not certain what a type 3 gear is. I got the 23 tooth I currently have from a local Speedometer shop here in Cincinnati, Ohio. They calibrated my car and installed the 23 tooth gear. They said I needed a 25 tooth gear to get the speedo exact and thought one was available, but not from any of their sources.

Here's a neat chart I got from [email protected] some time back. It may help you:

The type 3 and type 3A gears rotate in opposite directions. The type 3A is for manual transmissions and the type 3 is for automatics. The type 3 has a long "nose shaft" and the type 3A is shorter. There is a great graphic on page 101 of the current National Parts Depot catalog to demonstrate the differences. Thanks for the reference to the recalibration chart. These all seem to be intended for later Ford transmissions but I sent an e-mail to the website owner to try and get the source of the info.

Thanks for your help.
