I was at the gas station filling up and noticed a car transport in the parking lot next door. In the bottom row was a strange looking Mustang. After paying for the gas I only had about a minute to look at the car closer. It was a 69 Mach I, red with a full black vinyl top. I've seen them in magazines but never in the flesh, butt ugly. The only other details was that it had a ill fitting shaker, an automatic, and a set of headers hanging underneath. By this time the driver was pulling away. I wish I had another 10 minutes, it could have been interesting.Mike

I agree, those vinyl roof sportsroofs looked terrible! The landau roofs on '71-'73 sportsroofs looked equally hideous!------------------

There used to be a bright yellow 69 fastback around here with a black vinyl top that covered the "sail panels" as well. In addition, the old guy had added a pair of chrome plastic "racing" mirrors on the top of the front fenders, right behind the headlight extensions. Maybe he was the fore father of todays "RICE BOY" movement! ------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA Stocker under construction, 302 5 speed
