My buck tag has 4 small shapes cut out. They are unique each is difficult to describe but no more than 1/4 " square. I believe them to be inspection codes but??? Has anyone else pondered this??

Only Dearborn and Metuchen Mustangs had buck tags. Most owners have removed them, but if you still have one, leave it on your Mustang.
If you could post a picture of the buck tag, that would help us all out. Thanks.

On both my wifes 65 Fastback & my 69 Coupe which were both Metuchen built cars they both still had their buck tags after all these years. Most previous owners probably didnt know what they were for.
