Topic: Wow, I have no reverse?!?

I just got into my car after driving it earlier today and to my amazement I have no reverse gear anymore. -Any reccomendations on what it should be? Personally I have not checked and I think it lost its linkage because when I put it into reverse which is top left I feel nothing holding it. Plus when I put it to top left getting thru the lock out I can shift the handle down as if going into second. -I have never touched a tranny...yet I can turn a wrench when it comes to an engine. What should I be warned about or know before heading into unknow territory? Thanks in advance. ------------------

Like you said, it sounds like it simple linkage related or one of the two bolts that hold the shifter to the tranny has come loose and the whole shifter housing is rotating. Mike

Okay dokey... I went under the car with a flash light the rod is missing for the reverse lever. Wow just need to put one back on. Is that all? I will go out tomorrow for the parts if that is what needs to get done. Amazing!------------------
