I want to get rid of the power steering on my 73 mustang. What do I need to do? I would like to be able to put it onto the 66 mustang, but I don't think they are the same steering system. Am I correct?

Nope, you can't put the '71-'73 power steering system into earlier Mustang.

To convert to manual steering in your '73, all you need is the manual steering box from a '71-'73 Mustang {a lot of the six cylinder cars had them}, or '65 to '72 full size Ford or Mercury. Yup, those big boats came with manual steering too!

The 73 actually has a good Saginaw power steering unlike the pre 71 cars. I really liked the power steering in my 72 Mach.

I just wanted to get rid of it 'cause I want to race with it. The less draw on the crankshaft, the better, right? Besides, I prefer "strong arm steering." All you have to do is change the box? Sounds easy enough...
