Have a question about the hard line running from the exhaust manifold to the automatic choke threaded connection on my 289 2V. The manifold end broke off flush, so needless to say the connection is not complete to the choke. Could someone please enlighten me about what affect that will have on the operation of the carbuetor and the choke. Thank you

It won't work properly at all. The repair kits are cheap and easy to install.

Beachbum, The line carries the heat from the exhaust manifold to the choke where the heat makes the spring move. This allows the choke to open when the engine warms up, so with the air cleaner off and warm engine the choke should be open. If not your carb will be running rich.

If the collar is broken off in the manifold, you can carefully drill it out. Very common on early models. Any Mustang supply has a new kit referrred to as a choke stove or choke tube kit. A typical price I found was 18.95
