hey guys/gals, I have a repro tail light panel and i wanna put it on. So..... how do i go about takin the old one off and then fitting the new one in???

You have to remove the taillights, then the rear quarter extensions, bumper, and valance panel.

Then you need to drill out the spot welds on the old taillight panel, then you can spot weld the new panel after you clean, prep, and prime all the surrounding area, then paint to match and reassemble the bumper, lights, etc...

In addition to Steve's comments...I am getting ready to weld my taillight panel in as well. If the panel was damaged from a rear impact of some sort, make sure that you straighten out the rear of the trunk so that your new piece will not be bowed when reinstalling. Also be very careful when removing the top of the tailight panel around the lip of the trunk area. The pieces that extend from the quarter panels are very thin metal and will bend very easily.

I should have added that the old panel makes a great template for knowing where to match up the new panel to the rear quarters.

You also want to fill the seams with body sealer after welding and priming.
