I'm trying to remove the reluctor from my '78 Duraspark distributor so I can change the mechanical advance springs. I've soaked it with penetrating oil, and tried prying up with two screwdrivers but it won't budge. Do they make a wheel puller small enough to get it off?Any suggestions? I use a small two jaw puller, put a bolt or something in the center of the shaft to avoid damaging it. Half the time the reluctor breaks in half, but new ones are cheap.Tom

I never take it off, just pull the gear and bushing off the bottom of the shaft and pull the shaft up and out. SteveW

Did you knock out the roll pin? They usually come out with a bit of prying with the pin out. Scott
