I currently have the stock styled steel 14 inch wheels on my 69' Mach1 with 235's. I cruise in this car and occasionally race. When I do race it is painfully obvious that I have traction problems in the rear. I also like the look of larger tires in the rear. I have decided to go with Torq-Thrust D's either in 15x8(American Racing) or 16x8(Vintage Wheel Works,4.5" B/S). Vintage wheel works told me that with their 16x8 I could go to a 255/50 in the rear without a clearance problem. I was hoping to find out what combinations worked for some of you. I also bought a Shelby style pair of under-rider bars that bolt on under the leaf springs and weld to the frame. Could I install those now or would it cause location problems when I put on higher wheels?

Did you have to do any work on the fenders or suspension? Do you get any rub when you bounce hard off bumps? What back spacing are your wheels?[This message has been edited by Cheesycook (edited 11-04-2001).]
