I just last week was told my brake lights don't turn on. I have replaced the bulbs and when I checked to see if they worked all that happen was a brief flicker. So I checked the brake switch, yet when looking for it I found no brake switch. I looked at my brake master cylinder and on the end where the brake lines connect there are two wires connected. Is that a modified brake system that sends a signal to the brake lights to work? I am unsure because I know from my car manuals that I should have a brake switch connected to the brake pedal.------------------ '65 Mustang Black/Black Pony Interior 289 4V 4 speed Manual Weiand Dual Plane,AFR 165cc, Comp Cam Pro Magnum Rocker Arms, 3.55 Rearend

Thats an early '65 (or possibly 64 1/2) brake switch, they were on the master cylinder.------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction 1976 Silverline Comoro 18' trihull ski boat, 188 hp 302 I/O, another toy http://all.at/mustang https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html

The wires should be connected to a hydraulic switch. It should have wrench flats to allow it to be screwed into the master cyl. Test for a bad switch by removing the wires at the switch terminals, and touching them together. The brake lights should go on. If this works, the switch probably went bad. Sometimes the brake fluid gets in, especially silicone fluid. NAPA sells a replacement switch, SL 134. Good LuckAl

Thanks for all the information, I got it all fixed. Another question, what are your mods on your brake systems? Dual Master Cylinder? Booster/Power Brakes? Spindle choice? Disc Size and Brand? Calipers and how many pistons? I am interested if what is working well and prices. Again thank you for your problem solving tech.------------------ '65 Mustang Black/Black Pony Interior 289 4V 4 speed Manual Weiand Dual Plane,AFR 165cc, Comp Cam Pro Magnum Rocker Arms, 3.55 Rearend
