What kind of fluid goes in the convertible top pump, and where the heck do I put it in? I have removed the back seat, but I don't see a filler hole on the pump unit... what am I missing...dumb and blind

Ralph, Use Hydraulic oil. On one end there is a big slotted screw type fitting. Mike

Most of the motors have the type of fitting that Mike mentions. Also, have seen the plug mounted right on the side of housing. There are some, though, that have a rubber plug on the end, The shop manual suggests using ATF type F. With a clean system, I started using multi purpose with no problem. If your problem has just started, look at the cylinders or lines.

Brake fluid works well also. I have used it many times. As a matter of fact, that's the ONLY fluid that I have ever used in convertable top pumps. Right or wrong, it worked for me and never hurt anything. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00 & '01 Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link
