Nooo!! Don't do it. Say it ain't so. It's a simple swap, but why would you want to do so?

Ahem...If you do go ahead with the swap, I'd be more than willing to take those 4 speed parts off your hands let's make a deal...

Yeah, come to AL and I'll do the swap gratis (assuming I'll trade you a C4 for the 4-speed)

my car was an FMX car when I got it, then it was a toploader car, and now I'mrunning an AOD. With used parts the swap to AOD can be done for around 500. If you want all new stuff and a rebuilt trans & stall converter you are probably looking towards 1500-2000. BTW Iwent the 500 routewith no problems. you will need the trans (bellhousing also with a c4 or fmx) flywheel shifter, radiator or cooler, cooling lines, maybe a driveshaft and maybe a crossmember.
Good luck either way

You just need to move to the east coast. We'd all be happy to hook you up with all the parts you need for the mere cost of "disposing" of your 4 speed parts!!

I am quite sure I can round up everything you need. Email me and we'll talk...I'd be more than willing to trade up with you for the 4 speed parts and give you what you feel the difference in value is worth...

today i was drove the mustang and i really dont like the difficulty of shifting. but maybe im just having a problem with it.could it be the linkage or the trans? it seems like the shifter locks up and the gears get stuck.ill try 2 get it into neutral but it seems that it is stuck in gear. what could this be? i called a tranny shop 2 see how much it would cost to rebuild my 4 spd. and he said they dont do those because parts are to hard to find. how the hell am i supposed to get my tranny rebuilt? is there any places where i can buy a new 4 spd? or do i maybe need new linkage and where could i get this and how much would it cost. any help would be a lot of help 2 me. thank you.

Try this link, if it's a toploader Ford tranny.

http://www.4speedtoploaders.com/index.htm

If it's a toploader, and you need a new shifter I have a Hurst Competition Plus sitting around. Good luck,

SteveW
