A fellow with one of the 64 1/2 pace car replicas is looking for a bit of information on the codes he found etched on the rad support of his car. I thought that you folks would probably be able to help! Here's what he has etched on the rad support:B/65 PACE CAR 65A C42 BL I know what the 65A and C42 codes are (body, paint and interior trim codes), but I was wondering what the "B/" would indicate, and the "BL" at the bottom. Any guesses? Also, I understand that Jim Haskell/Jim Smart produced a book with the VINs of all the 64.5 pace car replicas in it. Does anyone have this book, by chance? I am looking for the list of VINs, but have had no success in getting my hands on a copy of the publication. One of our registry members sent Jim Haskell a check for a copy of the publication over 5 months ago and has still not recieved the book, or any communication and is getting a bit frustrated. And sources you would recommend? Thanks for your time folks!! ------------------ Cheers, Ian M&M Member #395 ------------------- '79 Mustang Indy 500 Pace Car Ian's Pace Car Website Vancouver Island Mustang Association Website Indy Pace Car Registry of Mustangs Official Website "If you get to thinking you are someone of some importance and influence, just try ordering another persons dog around." - Author Unknown

Ian, I don't know the answer to your code questions right now, but can email Jim to see if he knows. I also have his book, a signed copy . I got it from MustangsPlus who I know have a large supply. (A side note - Jim inspected my car at MustangsPlus when I bought it to authenticate it for me) The book does not list all the pace car coupes. It lists VIN numbers of cars whose owners submitted the information back when he and Jim Haskell were collecting data for the book. There is no complete list of all the VIN numbers. Many of them were nearly consecutive, but most were not in sequential order. The last ones made show a build day of May 1, 1964. Unfortunately, I have seen a couple of pace car coupes that have been wrecked and the radiator support was replaced. Hence, those valuable etchings, including the PACE marking, are lost. It seriously devalues those pace cars. Everything else can be "replicated," including door tags with "C" color code. I'll let you know if I hear from Jim. Joyce
