Problem is they are red and my interior is black. Will black interior dye work well on red, or should interior paint be used on kickpanels. mellowyellow Gearhead Posts: 5739 From: So. Fl. Registered: Aug 2000	posted 07-21-2001 08:46 AM I have a pair of aftermarket speaker doopanels in my 65. They come black and my interior is white. I washed them thoroughly to get the mold release off and sanded them weith 400 grit wet. Just prior to painting using lacquer, I wiped them with lacquer thinner and while the panel was tacky I shot them in color. 10,000 miles later, they are still fine. I try to be careful. For black, I would use the saame procedure and shoot them with 1613 Krylon semi flat which is very close to original. The nice thing about Krylon is that it is VERY easy to touchup. I'd get them if they are hard to come by. IP: Logged
