If you remember, I asked a while back for some advice concerning what felt like hesitation while accelerating. It seemed to happen at higher RPMs - feeling at times as if power was being lost. Having exhuasted my limited knowledge, I finally drove it over to the speed shop that installed my headers and MSD setup. A mechanic took it for a drive with me saying all sorts of scary things like "bad valve spring" and "lazy cylinder". We returned to the shop with my head hanging low.Back at the shop, he popped the hood with the engine running and poked around a bit. Carb looked just fine - plug wires all tight. He tugged on the throttle a few times - listening intently. He tugged again, really revving the engine. "I'll be damned . . . " he said, calling me over to the other side of the car. Pointing at the distributor he gave the engine big rev again and pretty blue sparks shot between it and the shiny new air cleaner - causing one of the cylinders to misfire. The MSD box was doing it's job - sending out a higher spark when the engine needed it. Unfortunately the base of the air cleaner was so close to the distributor that at high RPMs it was arcing and causing one of the cylinders to misfire. We took it for another drive with the air cleaner off and it felt like I had a new engine. He put a different base on the air cleaner to raise it up and away from the distributor and I was burning up the road on my way to work. That's the kind of repair I love. HH

Great Going HH......an honest mechanic and a quick fix to a problem that you could have been chasing and throwing money at for months. Read somewhere to crank the motor on a dark night (with no artificial lighting)...pop the hood and look for little UFO's popping around the plugs, wires and dist etc... Think I'll do that tonite... Glad you got that little bugger...your mechanic desreves a case of beer !!! ------------------ EDDIE D Resto Mod '70 Sport Roof Arrest Me Red

I was just about to tell you to check that! I'm glad it's fixed and it was cheap. Problem is that all the money you saved on repairs will be going towards speeding tickets.
