I was reading in the archives and in dan jones article about 351Cs he mentionedthe thermostat has to be a cleavland specific to match a brass restrictor ring in the block. well, i dont remember there ever being a brass restrictor ring. Could that be whats causing my car to run so hot? or would that not make much of a difference?

There is a brass ring under the thermostat. It will make a cleveland run hot if it is not there and you use a stock type water pump. I noticed the other day when I was putting my C back together, that my Weiand water pump does not have the port for that by-pass, therefore making it not necassary to have that brass ring in there.
