In preparation for ripping my dashboard out, I started thinking about restoring a dashboard I have that's in good condition but has been crudely spray-painted in black. I was wondering if paint stripper was OK, so I tested it on a non-essential part. (I have the air con set-up, so I tested it on a panel that goes in the place of the air con blower down by the passenger.) I found that pure paint stripper dissolves the plastic, but diluted stripper is OK.
Is that the best way to go? Diluted paint stripper? I don't want to sand too much because I'd lose the ripple effect in the plastic.
Thanks all!
Simon

Not sure what plastic pars you are talking about. Plastic and stripper is a bad combination. More I think about, it's kind of an impossible situation. I have removed a finish on a dashpad with lacquer thinner. But on hard plastic parts??
