Has anyone ever removed it with the Engine in the car? I'm thinking of having it rebuilt by NPD,but it looks like it will not come out with the shaft on it, does the shaft come off of the gearbox? It in a 66 mustang with a 302 and headers. If any one has instrustion it would be great. Thanks David

David, On a 65-66 the shaft is an integral part of the steering box, we are not as lucky as the late 67 with a two piece. With alot of maneuvering, and removing the headers and everything else, it will come out with the engine in place. Mike

I think I was able to remove it without taking the engine out but it was 10 years ago and I really don't remember the details. You should be able to disconnect everything, raise the car up and slide it out from the bottom.
