It's a duraspark with a three wire harness. Running it with a MSD 6A box. I have black. purple and orange wires coming from the distributor to a harness. First question is do I need the other half of the harness or can I splice? Second question is: where to splice wires or harness into. Third question is: I don't use the white lead from the MSD box, do I? I have no paperwork for the box, but saw how it was wired to a Mallory dual points distributor. Got the coil wired with the box, but not sure about the distributor.

Thanks for all the help. Hope to hear this puppy soon.

Jim,

MSD's Green goes to Ford's Violet wire.
" Violet " " " Orange wire.

Ford's Black wire is not used.
Ford's White wire is not used.

MSD's Heavy Red wire goes to + battery
MSD's " Blk " " " - battery

And the coil wiring you already have.

Good luck Jim! Let us know how it sounds. If you have any other questions try MSD;s web site, they have complete instructions on line.

Thanks, Steve-

The MSD site is great.

My problem is that I don't have a magnetic pickup connector. Didn't get one with the box (or car) because previous owner was running a distributor with points. Try to find one tomorrow.

Thanks again for the quick response. Hey, how'd the paint job come out?

Jim,

Here's a link to the Melissa photo page on M&M. It looks pretty cool IMHO. More like a "race" car. LOL She's pretty happy with it!

https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Melissa.html

The purple is violet and the orange is orange. Hook MSD's green to the "purple", and MSD's "purple" to the orange wire from the duraspark. Tape or cap off the black and you are in business!

Let me know how it runs! It's a good combo, the duraspark and msd/crane/mallory box.

Thanks again, guys-
Much of my confusion stemmed from the fact that I didn't have the MSD Magnetic pickup harness, or the duraspark ignition module. Guess I'm still confused about what to do with the plug from the distributor. Was thinking that, with the MSD box in the system, I could splice the violet (+ ?) and orange (- ?) wires into my existing setup. Distributor just needs power and a ground, right?

Steve, the coupe looks sweet! Love the stripes. Melissa done good!

{if you have three wires coming from the duraspark, you have the mag pick-up inside the distributor, and yes you can splice}

Second question is: where to splice wires or harness into.

{answered in earlier post}

{No}

Thanks again, Steve-

Trying to run down the MSD wiring (magnetic pickup harness) that plugs into the top of the 6A and runs to the distributor. Then I'm set to wire as you described

Really appreciate the help-
