ok, so while im anxiosly paceing the garage floor, staring at my 7o grande mustang, i begin to wonder? why is it i never see grandes in the restoration stages, and rarely see one on the road, i know that the production numbers werent that small. does anyone care to explain the seeming lack of grande interest! ------------------ 1970 Grande 3.50 9",4 wheel disc, gt40-cobra rims(soon) 351W, Calypso Coral, Severe state of restomod

Personally, I've never even seen a Grande, let alone know the reasons for lack of interest in them :\ But I'd like to see it ~Scott~

scott as soon as i figure out how to send a pic i will post one, although the grande is stripped down to its unibody, the only thing i put back on so far is the new 3:50 gears and the rear disc conversion. the grande was built for those that could not afford the t-bird, so it has many "luxury" item, basicly a mach 1 deluxe interior, 351W, FMX, 2:75 gears. also the calypso coral paint and a forward half vinly top. in case you were wondering ------------------ 1970 Grande 3.50 9",4 wheel disc, gt40-cobra rims(soon) 351W, Calypso Coral, Severe state of restomod

A grande was/is the luxury version of the Mustang. All (as far as I know) were coupes, and had vinyl tops, deluxe interiors etc... Mainly an option pkg like a mach I but with an eye towards luxury.

I rather like my Grande. But shes got 150,000 on her, and its almost time for a mercy killing. Most of her guts will probably end up in a 73 convertible. ------------------ MCA# 48755 71 Mach 1 71 Grande 69 Fastback

Grande's are nice cars,But if you look at restoration trends and collectible cars they all share one theme. They are usually the sporty models. How many 55-57 Chebbie 4 doors do you see? How many old Cadillacs? Lincolns? It's cool to restore your Grande, but the answer is most would rather put the effort into a Mach1, or 65-68 fastback gt-350 clone etc. There are many old cars that are rare, but that didn't (doesn't) mean they are sought after collectors cars. The Grande may be an exception, it'll probably do well at cars shows because it is, afterall a Mustang. SteveW

thaks steve, my wife and i have had this argument several times, the grande resto has been a restomod for sure, and i agree a mach 1 with the power and sports roof looks great but the little extras that a grande offers plus that my dad bought it new keeps glued to its reincarnation. ------------------ 1970 Grande 3.50 9",4 wheel disc, gt40-cobra rims(soon) 351W, Calypso Coral, Severe state of restomod

Every once in awhile I will see a Grande at a National Show, they are about as rare as a Mustang II on the showfields. But the same goes for any coupe version in the 67-73, people seemed to have a bigger love for the fastbacks of convertibles, unless the coupes are fitted with a 428 SCJ, then people flock to them. We did goe to a show in Huntsville Alabama on saturday and they had 4 Mustang II. So there is still hope..

To post a pic on this site, it has to be on the web first. If you e-mail it to Steve Lariviere (the big kahuna) he'll probably post it for you. SteveW
