What can anyone tell me about the early c4's? I have one ( abut 66 ) that seems to be in good shape.Friend says they are weaker than the newer ones.Would it be alright for "light" racing? thanks mike

I don't know details but I know that the c4 in my 66 didn't last. I needed it rebuilt about every 6 months. Offcourse now there is so much aftermarket support that parts are available that allow them to handle huge amounts of horsepower. quote: Originally posted by 67mike: What can anyone tell me about the early c4's? properly built a C4 can withstand up to 600 hp! when a C4 goes away most shops that rebuild them fail to replace the converter and the garbage that is left behind gums up the new works and you have to rebuild it again and again.... use a B&M rebuild kit, a B&M holeshot converter and you should have no problems.

Hey Guy's I appreciate the reply's. That makes me feel alot better. The tranny I have came out of a 66 galaxie and is going in my 67 MGB. I Have 66 289 heads, which brings me to another question, do I need rail rockers or non-rail for these heads. I also have a 67 mustang in the works. I love this site = mike
