Please Help Me, Is it possible for a faulty fuel pump to leak gasoline into the oiling system of an engine? About 200 miles after an oil change, on my 300 CI Ford Six, it reads at least one quart over full and smells a bit like gas. The choke opens all of the way and the carb does not seem to be dumping gas like a heavy float would cause. There also does not appear to be any water in the oil. I'm stumped. The fuel pump thought came from the fact that sometimes the fuel pump seems to have a small external leak that I have not had achance to address. Thanks, *********** Gene (horseballz)

Gene,Yes it is! Had that happen to a 258 AMC I-6 once. Change the fuel pump and the oil/filter and you'll be set. SteveW

The level that operates a mechanical pump goes directly through your timing chain cover, which is right above the oil pan. If the pump started to leak around the lever that operates the pump, it would be an easy shot into the oil system. I agree with steve, replace the pump and do an oil change and you should be set.Mike
