Well, I'm planning out the next few projects on my car and wanted some good advise. So far I have finished the engine, Front and Rear suspension, brakes are almost done, exhaust and wheels are done. I have the rest left; paint, rear end (gears), Full Tranny job, interior. The car is completly stripped and not road legal. I was thinking of towing to get the tranny done, does this sound like the right path?

Do you have any rust that needs to be stopped? If not, then it sounds like tranny time. ------------------ '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '97 Probe GTS 2.5L Disposable Commuter "Keep your driveway all Ford!"

If getting the gears is the next step then what option should I take. 67FB 289 with 3.00 8.8 non locking with Drum Brkes in there now. I could save 2k and buy the entire kit with gears and all from some company in California, or replace my gears and keep the 8.8 and do a brake conversion on it. Any ideas? Also, what ratio should I go for? I don't want a total locking, maybe limited slip? Thanks!

Joer First not to confuse the issue, do you have an 8.8 late model rear end or do you still have your stock 8". Big difference between the two.Mike

I don't know what I would do without y'all! Thanks for the decoding. I have the Axle Tag in front of me. Now, the letter between the W and the Z is either C,G,0 or 6?? It's kinda hard to read. But, here it is; --------------- WCZ - F1 3.00 6LA 931 --------------- Is this a good rearend? What can I do with this? Thanks for the help!! Joe

It's a generic 3.00 8 inch joer. It's fine for street use as is. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link
