Ever since I raised my comp ratio, I have noticed a ping under part throttle loads, to save me some time, does anyone know off hand which way to turn the vacuum advance adjusting nut to slow down the advance rate?

Clockwise should tighten the spring against the diaphram and slow it down.

Thank you, that is what I thought, but I saw something online that said the opposite, but that did not make any sense.

Hi Tom,

actually it depends on who makes the unit...the Crane unit decreases advance when turned clockwise while the Accel unit does the opposite...go figure!

It is a stock replacement unit, I guess I will just experiment with it.
