Well my radio that I put in never did this before, but when I change the station or insert a tape it statics then the static fades away. Also whenever my rpm's go up, the static matches it.Any ideas? (Man I took 3 classes of electronics in school, I should know this) ------------------ Joe Fields 68 Fastback 289ci bored .030 over C-4

Do you have resistor spark plugs, or check your ground?

Sounds like ignition related noise. I had to put noise filters on both my power lead and light lead to get rid of the noise I was getting in my '67. I'm assuming your using an aftermarket stereo.

Joe, are you using non-resistor spark plugs or non-suppressor spark plug wires? That would sure do it.------------------ '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '97 Probe GTS 2.5L Disposable Commuter "Live Right! Keep your driveway all Ford!"

I have no idea. I've never heard of those.

Most spark plugs are resistor, but there are non resistor plugs available and they will give you radio static. Also, most spark plug wires are radio suppresion wire, but some high performance types are not. If you tell us what you have for plugs and wires, we can tell you what you have. ------------------ '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '97 Probe GTS 2.5L Disposable Commuter "Live Right! Did you recently install a MSD box or any other ignition upgrade? That could do it also.

Joe, did you ever figure out the static problem with your radio?I recently put a petronix ignition in my car and had to run the power for it directly off of the switched side of the starter solenoid. I also put some high performance plug wires on at the same time. Now my stock AM radio is nothing but solid static with the engine running, but works fine when it is off. Is there a way to filter out the noise at it's source rather than at the radio? Thanks for any ideas, Troy [This message has been edited by Troy (edited 07-22-2001).]

accel super stock wires..I think it maybe the wires.. Remember the early vettes that came with the "can" to cover the DIST. to reduce noise due to poor grounds.
