The rotor in the distributor should be pointing directly at a terminal when the spark occurs. Unfortunately this isn't always the way it is. The procedure to correct this malady is referred to as indexing the rotor.
Does anyone have an easy way to achieve this? It is really easy on the Cheby but we weren't so lucky with our Fords. How about an adjustable rotor or an adjustable arm on the vacuum advance?
I posted this on another board and hardly anyone even read it let alone respond to it.
Ideas Alex?
Pat.

Pat, the way we do it is to drill a small hole in the distributor cap for sighting. We then locate the position of the rotor and file it to a point as necessary for indexing. This is the best method that I have found. On aftermarket distributors this is not a problem.
