I am researching FE intakes and I came across two different descriptions for the same casting number. I was wondering if this is a mistake or if there's something weird I should know...C6AE-9424-E One source has it as "'66-'68 390 GT, Cast Iron 4V, large 'S' by casting number. 1.16" x 1.94" port size." Another says "'66-'67 427 Medium Riser, Aluminum 4V, 1.24" x 1.94" port size." Any insight? ------------------ '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '97 Probe GTS 2.5L Disposable Commuter

Steve, I don't claim to be an expert, but I have an original '66 390 motor in the garage with C6AE-R heads and the intake (w/ the "S") is #C6AE-G. My literature lists the C6AE-E as an aluminum 428 PI intake, used before 11-1-66. I also show C6AE-H as an aluminum 428 PI intake used AFTER 11-1-66. For the 427 I show C6AE-C,K and M as Sidewinders, and C6AE-J as an aluminum 427-4V dual-plane used before 11-1-66. There are also a number of other 427 listings in the C3, C4, C5, C7 and C8 casting number series. The only "Medium-Riser" listings I show are:C4AE-F 427-8V, racing C7AE-K 427-8V, racing C8AX-A 427-8V, racing Not sure if this clears anything up, or just adds to the mystery. The only thing it DOES do, is show us that the "facts" aren't as clear as they were 20+ years ago. Then again, neither is my eyesight.......LOL! Kevin

It does help a lot. The only way I'm going to get this stuff right is by cross-referencing.It's hard getting good Ford info! ------------------ '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '97 Probe GTS 2.5L Disposable Commuter

While we're talking FE; can an average 352 (4" bore) be opened .050" to the standard 390 bore? What about .030" over that (to 4.08")? Just something rattling about my brain over the last week. ------------------ "It only takes money" Dwayne
